PE and Sports Premium Funding

PE and Sport Premium Funding

The PE and Sport Premium funding is for schools to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and Sport they offer.

Schools receive PE and Sport Premium funding based on the number of pupils in Year 1 to 6.

Objectives for PE and Sport Premium in this Academy

  • Develop or add to the PE and Sports activities that the Academy already offers.
  • Make improvements that will benefit pupils joining the Academy in future years.

Strategy for using the Funding

The Academy looks carefully at the needs of pupils and will decide to put in place provision strategies for best impact. We anticipate these might be things like:

  • Introduce new sports and activities that encourage more pupils to take up sport.
  • Support and invite the least active children by running school sports clubs.
  • Provide existing staff with training and resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively.
  • Have qualified sports coaches.

Lace Hill Academy – PE and Sports Premium Impact Statement

Lace Hill Academy has made strategic use of its PE and Sports Premium to enhance physical education and promote a culture of active, healthy living for all pupils. The funding has been directed with a clear emphasis on inclusion, confidence-building, and sustainability to ensure long-term benefits for the entire school community.

A key focus has been increasing physical activity among less active pupils. To support this, Lace Hill has introduced a range of inclusive enrichment programmes designed to engage, motivate, and build confidence. These initiatives not only encourage daily movement but also promote lifelong healthy habits. Examples include Dance Club and lunchtime Fitness Club sessions delivered by a specialist fitness coach.

An important part of the school’s sustainable approach to physical development is the continued delivery of the Bikeability programme. This initiative equips pupils with essential cycling and road safety skills, promoting both independence and long-term physical activity. In addition, swimming sessions are offered to specific year groups, with tailored support available for those who need additional help developing this vital life-saving skill.

The school has also revitalised its programme of internal and external sports competitions, providing pupils with opportunities to represent Lace Hill with pride while developing core values such as teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship.

To ensure high-quality teaching, the premium has supported the continuing professional development of staff, enabling them to deliver engaging, inclusive, and progressive PE lessons.

Through these targeted investments, Lace Hill Academy continues to raise standards in physical education while embedding a strong ethos of health, inclusion, and sustainability across the school.
