Assessment

The Government have said they would like all schools to develop their own systems to assess the learning of children against national expectations.
At Lace Hill Academy, we use Insight to help us record, analyse and report where children are in their learning. We are able to tell you where your child is working in relation to the expectation for their age and what your child needs to learn next to make progress.
For reading and maths, we use formal assessments to inform teacher assessment. Children undertake an independent writing task (known as a hot write) at the end of each Talk 4 Writing unit which teachers use to make a judgement on writing standard.
Across the rest of the curriculum, we use POP (proof of progress) quizzes and think-and-link tasks to support teacher assessment. The POP quizzes are completed at the beginning and end of a unit to determine the progress each child has made. The think-and-link tasks allow children to make connections in their learning and the world around them.
