At Lace Hill Academy, we believe that SMSC education (spiritual, moral, social, cultural) and the fundamental British Values (democracy, individual liberty, the rule of law, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs) should underpin our culture and curriculum. As such, we actively seek opportunities to promote SMSC and the British Values in all areas of school life.
To further develop our SMSC and British values, we recently set up a pupil school council (January 2018). Councillors were elected in a democratic vote and strengthen the school’s pupil voice. In the year ahead, the councillors will be working hard to bring their ideas to life which will in turn shape and improve our school.
Our first actions will be to provide staff with relevant up-to-date training so our council is well organised and runs efficiently. We will also be gathering ideas from pupils about how they would like Lace Hill Academy to develop in the future. Regular updates on the school council’s progress will be communicated in the school newsletter.
The children will be in role for a full academic year and new councillors will be elected in summer term 2019
